The reason I didn't recommend to others was the resent media news in which said that this drug cause cancer and also saiI wwas ttaken zantac to aggrevate asthma. I have asthma for about 8 year and I take omeprazol 40mg about 8 years but still I don't know if this medication contribute to my asthma symptoms or not. The news came a week ago, I haven't discussed with my doctor yet. Have to say that I have a history of stomach ulcer in the past 36 years, before omsprazole I was on zantac 300mg,, I don't remember why my docter stopped zantac tabs for me. From zantac I have an experience probably no one has and some say it's not possible, that an increase in appetite ,when i was taken zantac after about half an hour I was hungry.

I find this medicine does alleviate stomach 'acids'and the gripes from taking many tablets

I have stopped using Omeprazole as I think it is counter-productive,. While it helped for the first year or two symptoms deteriorated; I felt generally out of sorts with feeling ill across the whole stomach and digestive area and reflux reappeared, sometimes quite badly. Tests showed no other conditions and a consultant advised doubling the dose which made me feel worse. I have stopped taking Omeprazole and now take Slippery Elm food instead which achieves the same ends with no side effects. I have not had reflux for ages.
